Christmas at Union Station, presented by FNBO, is back for another year of festive fun. This long-standing tradition features Omaha\u2019s official Christmas tree, holiday concerts and Santa himself. Although this year may look a bit different, the magic of Christmas continues at The Durham Museum and we hope you will join us!<\/p>\n<p><em>Christmas at Union Station presented by FNBO is sponsored by Conagra Brands Foundation, Union Pacific, Mangelsen\u2019s and OPPD. Media support provided by KETV.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Holiday Hours (November 27-January 10)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Wednesday-Saturday, 10AM-4PM <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Sunday, 12-4PM<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Tuesday, 10AM-8PM\u00a0 <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year\u2019s Day<\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitor Information<br \/>\n<\/strong>All visitors are required to wear a mask and asked to practice social distancing while inside the museum.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors need to use our timed ticketing system for admissions. Timed ticketing offers reserved time slots to ensure paced guest arrivals and moderated attendance levels. Each person visiting must reserve or buy a ticket in advance online or over the phone, including children and museum members. We recommend planning your visit in advance as some time slots do sell-out.\u00a0 Visit DurhamMuseum.org\/tickets or call 402-444-5071.<\/p>\n<p>When you make your ticket purchase you are selecting your arrival time. There are currently no time limits to the length of a museum visit, but the average visit is around 90 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Omaha\u2019s Official Christmas Tree<br \/>\n<\/strong>See the region\u2019s largest indoor Christmas Tree!\u00a0 Standing at over 40-feet-tall, this year\u2019s tree was donated by the Ross Family (Jason, Fallon, and Harlan) of Omaha and will be harvested on Monday, November 16.<\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\n-more-<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here Comes Santa Claus\u2026And Rudolph, Too!<u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Our brand new, socially distanced Santa experience will allow guests to still see Santa in-person while keeping kids and the jolly old elf himself safe.\u00a0 Don\u2019t forget!\u00a0 Santa\u2019s reindeer join him Tuesday evenings and Sundays.<\/p>\n<p>Santa will be at the museum six days a week, November 27-Dcember 23!\u00a0 Tuesday-Saturday: 10AM-12PM and 1-3PM, Tuesday evening: 5-7PM and Sunday: 12-3PM<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Events<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Tree Lighting Ceremony \u2013 Virtual Event<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Thanksgiving Night \u2013 7PM<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tune into our website and Facebook page Thanksgiving night to watch our 40-foot-tall Christmas Tree come aglow for the holiday season.\u00a0 This 20-minute program features musical performances, a greeting from Santa and the countdown to the lighting of the region\u2019s largest indoor Christmas Tree.\u00a0 All from the comfort of your couch!<\/p>\n<p><em>Scouts-Only Family Night at The Durham Museum \u2013 On Site Event<br \/>\nMonday, November 30, 4\u20137PM<\/em><br \/>\nScout families, enjoy the best of Christmas at Union Station complete with cookies, crafts and a scavenger hunt. Family-friendly, holiday-themed activities will make this a night to remember. Cost is $5\/person (Scout, sibling, or adult). Registration must be done in advance and payment is required upon registration.<\/p>\n<p><em>Holiday Cultural Conversations &#8211; Virtual Event<br \/>\nFriday, December 4, 4-4:30PM<\/em><br \/>\nLove our annual Holiday Cultural Festival? Join us for a virtual spin on this popular event featuring an introduction to Christmas at Union Station traditions and the museum\u2019s 40-foot, fully decorated tree. Then, we will take a tour of the Holiday Cultural Tree display with help from local cultural organizations who are able to join us to shine a light on their own holiday traditions.\u00a0 This event is free, but registration is required.<\/p>\n<p><em>Strings of the Season Concert Series \u2013 On Site Event<br \/>\nSaturday and Sunday, Noon-1PM, November 27 \u2013 December 20<\/em><br \/>\nEnjoy some of the area\u2019s most beautiful holiday string music under the glow of The Durham\u2019s Christmas tree. Please help us fight hunger in our community and assist those in greatest need!<\/p>\n<p><em>-more-<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Exhibits on Display Through January 10, 2020<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Holiday Cultural Trees Display<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A holiday favorite returns to The Durham\u2019s galleries during Christmas at Union Station. The display is one of the enduring fixtures of the season and showcases how cultures from around the world celebrate the holiday season. Each tree is decorated by a local Omaha cultural group and is accompanied by interpretative text explaining the meaning behind the various decorations and unique traditions of each culture.<\/p>\n<p><em>Season\u2019s Greetings, Omaha! <\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Durham has partnered with six local organizations this season to unwrap the joys their programs bring to the holidays. In festive displays, these institutions (El Museo Latino, Lauritzen Gardens, The Omaha Symphony, The Rose Theater, The Community Playhouse and the Omaha Children\u2019s Museum) will present tableaus of their programming and decoration for guests to discover. We hope this inspires visits to their sites and more!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This exhibit explores Jim Henson\u2019s groundbreaking work for film and television and his transformative impact on popular culture. \u00a0This comprehensive exhibition reveals how Henson and his team of builders, performers and writers brought to life the enduringly popular worlds of\u00a0<em>The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth<\/em> and much more. \u00a0The exhibition features a broad range of artifacts related to Henson\u2019s unparalleled career, including more than 20 puppets, character sketches, storyboards, scripts, photographs, film and television clips, behind-the-scenes footage, iconic costumes and interactive experiences that allow visitors to try their hand at puppeteering on camera and designing a puppet. <em>The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited\u00a0<\/em>is a traveling exhibition from<a href=\"http:\/\/www.movingimage.us\/\">\u00a0Museum of the Moving Ima<\/a>ge<\/p>\n<p><strong>About The Durham Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Durham Museum in Omaha\u2019s beautiful art deco Union Station is home to permanent exhibits that preserve Omaha\u2019s vibrant history, traveling exhibits covering subjects ranging from history and culture, to science and industry, and many entertaining, educational, family-oriented activities.
