On Saturday, January 14, 2017 3:22 PM, I received the below letter with the sad news of the fire at the Sons of Italy Hall.<\/p>\n

“Dear members and friends of Sons of Italy<\/p>\n
On Friday afternoon, the fire at the hall caused extensive damage to the interior (bar, kitchen, and storage room, as well
\nas smoke and water damage of the building.<\/p>\n
President Pruse has been notified and is in contact with the Organizations\u2019 officers.<\/p>\n
At this time, we do not know the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n
Our insurance company\/agent will work with the insurance adjuster to determine the plan of action.<\/p>\n
The building was secured Friday evening, as well as being winterized to prevent further damage.<\/p>\n
The State and Colombo Lodge will provide updates as they come available.<\/p>\n

The Sons of Italy Foundation was founded in 1959. The hall had three dining rooms. The main floor seated 236. The Ceschia room seated 82 and the basement seated 72.<\/p>\n
The Thursday lunches were renown in Omaha as watering holes for politicians and the site of many a business deal, making this truly an Omaha tradition.<\/p>\n
